Europe tends to have slightly more relaxed laws regarding the owning of fennec foxes as pets.

UK – Legal

Completely legal to own a fennec fox and you do not need a special license.

All fox species are illegal to own as pets.

Germany – Legal

All non-threatened fox species are legal to own with a permit.

Denmark – Legal

All foxes are legal to own and import without a license.

Netherlands – Legal

All foxes are legal to own and import without a license.

Turkey – Legal

All non-threatened fox species are legal to own without a need for a license.

Austria – Legal

Fennec foxes, arctic foxes and non-native red foxes are legal, without the need of a license.

Fennec foxes, arctic foxes and non-native red foxes are legal, without the need of a license.

Switzerland – Legal

The only type of fox that is legal to own as a pet is the fennec fox. No permit is required.

You are allowed to catch wild foxes and breed them/sell them as pets. All non-threatened species are legal.
