Fennec Fox Price

Just how much is a Fennec fox?

When it comes to buying a pet fennec fox you need to be very careful. In-fact, price should be the least of your priorities when getting your fennec fox. You may find a cheap fennec fox price, maybe even less than a $1000 but often these foxes are being resold or re-homed. Sometimes this is fine, but it goes without saying that you should do extensive homework before purchasing a cheaper re-homed animal. With fennec foxes it is essential to bond with them early after they have just been weaned. Many fennec foxes will not bond with new and subsequent owners and as a result become aggressive and fearful.

In conclusion it’s pretty difficult to give an exact price for a fennec, as it all depends on the breeder. The breeder can change the fennec fox price based on sex, behavior, cost of raising and demand. Ideally, the price of a fennec will not be a factor in your decision as you should be visiting the animals directly and choosing a reputable breeder very carefully. Also these guys can live anywhere between 10-15 years of age. There could be unknown expenses such as vet bills and damages.

For the sake of this article we will provide an answer… the cost of a fennec fox can be anywhere between $1500 – $3000. The cost to your lifestyle and how you will need to adapt to provide for one of these critters is more important.

Plus at least 2 sets of fleece liners for the ferret nation at $50 a piece that you’ll likely have to replace yearly. Consider the costs of puppy pads and cleaners monthly as well. I’d recommend furniture covers to protect your upholstery from “happy pee” accidents lol.

Food in my experience has run at least $50 a month. Kuugen gets fox burgers (aka Gizmo burgers), canned food, eggs, fresh veggies and dried fruits, pinkies, chicken, jerky treats, super worms, and sometimes silkworms when I’m feeding the reptiles so he doesn’t feel left out.

Yearly vet expenses including parasite checks, exams, rabies and distemper vaccinations, etc would be about 200, maybe more depending on the vet. As exotics it’s important to find a good vet that is familiar and comfortable treating a fox. It’s important to save for an emergency too. Babies are very fragile being so small and they seem to not have any fear as kits which makes them accident prone. 😅

There may be a few other things but your list is looking well thought out so far!
